Almost Final Curtain by Tate Hallaway

Almost Final Curtain:
Craving the spotlight is in her blood.

Ever since high school student Anastasija Parker discovered she was vampire royalty, her life has been sort of crazy. The half-vampire- half-witch just wants some normalcy, and trying out for the spring musical seems like the perfect fix.

But when the ancient talisman that stands between vampire freedom and slavery to witches is stolen, Ana has to skip rehearsal and track down the dangerous artifact before someone uses it to make this year's curtain call her last...

Tate Hallaway took two worlds: witches and vampires, and brought them together creatively in this series. I am enjoying the characters and the tension she creates in the Vampire Princess of St. Paul books. To me there was little romance in the book, despite the classic-style courting done by Ana’s betrothed. I found that I also enjoyed that the story focused more on the danger surrounding the characters rather than having the girl moon over the boys vying for her attention.

Ana is caught between two worlds; being half-vampire and half-witch. Her boyfriend is a vampire hunter and her closest friend is a witch, and they are constantly reminding her that vampires are nothing more than evil beings. But her accidental betrothal to a vampire knight, Elias, has taught her that there are always two sides to every story. And to make matters more interesting, the guy she kinda accidentally licked (blood from his face) in gym class when her vampire side first emerged is showing an interest in her as well. As events unfold, Ana and Elias become banished from her father’s vampire court, an ancient artifact surfaces that could re-enslave the vampires to witches and her mother becomes the target of a vampire hunt…
