Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent

Before I Wake:
I died on a Thursday-killed by a monster intent on stealing my soul. The good news? He didn't get it. The bad news? Turns out not even death will get you out of high school...

Covering up her own murder was one thing, but faking life is much harder than Kaylee Cavanaugh expected. After weeks spent "recovering," she's back in school, fighting to stay visible to the human world, struggling to fit in with her friends and planning time alone with her new reaper boyfriend. But to earn her keep in the human world, Kaylee must reclaim stolen souls, and when her first assignment brings her face-to-face with an old foe, she knows the game has changed. Her immortal status won't keep her safe. And this time Kaylee isn't just gambling with her own life....

I love the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent so much; and after six exceptional books I just don't know what to say anymore. I've watched these characters grow, fall in love and I've seen them at their worst. I've cried and I've laughed and I loved every moment of it. As sad as I am knowing that there is only one more book remaining, and I can't wait to see how Rachel closes this series. Rachel delves into the characters' emotions and brings them to the surface for all to see. She pulls on your heart-strings writing more than just stories, she creates fast-paced, action-packed thrilling adventures.

Kaylee's life has changed drastically since the events of If I Die, but she has to pretend that nothing has changed in order to save Nash from prison. Nash is still hurting from discovering that Kaylee has fallen in love with Tod.  And things are getting even more tense as people from the past are suddenly coming back from the dead. Avari (a hellion of greed) is back with a whole new scheme that will enable him to cross over from the Netherworld permanently...And those plans involve Kaylee's soul and her loved ones. The ending will leave you with your heart pounding in your chest, and your hands reaching for more pages. With All My Soul CANNOT come fast enough!

  1. OMG I am right there with you on how amazing this series is!! I LOVED the last installment and actually just bought this book yesterday. I cannot wait to read it! I love Todd!!!! Nash was getting on my nerves by a few books ago so I am curious to see what Vincent does with his character, especially since Kayle is no longer with him. I think her and Todd are a much better fit for each other. Nash in my mind is too clingy and relies on Kayle and their relationship to much, where as with Todd she can still be an individual... I hope that all makes sense lol
