Stay by Deb Caletti

Clara's relationship with Christian is intense from the start, and like nothing she’s ever experienced before. But what starts as devotion quickly becomes obsession, and it's almost too late before Clara realizes how far gone Christian is—and what he's willing to do to make her stay.

Now Clara has left the city—and Christian—behind. No one back home has any idea where she is, but she still struggles to shake off her fear. She knows Christian won't let her go that easily, and that no matter how far she runs, it may not be far enough....

This is my first experience with Deb Caletti, and although I found the book to be of a very slow pace, I can honestly say that it was a great story. The characters kept me coming back for more, and I constantly needed to know what was going to happen next. The book was told from Clara's perspective, and I did find it a little confusing when the story would bounce back and forth between the past to the present with no direct disclosure. Once the past and the present become entwined, the pace and tension did pick up immensely. For the most part, Clara was an honest and realistic character, but her constant need to be in a relationship made her a little difficult to relate to. Now, understandably she didn't go looking for another guy, Finn was a chance encounter, but considering what she just went through...well it made it seem like she was a little fickle that she was so easily able fall for him. But, those are just my thoughts.
