Illusions by Aprilynne Pike

Illusions:
Laurel hasn't seen Tamani since she begged him to let her go last year. Though her heart still aches, Laurel is confident that David was the right choice.

But just as life is returning to normal, Laurel discovers that a hidden enemy lies in wait. Once again, Laurel must turn to Tamani to protect and guide her, for the danger that now threatens Avalon is one that no faerie thought would ever be possible. And for the first time, Laurel cannot be sure that her side will prevail.

Aprilynne Pike's faeries are refreshingly unique, she has created a world where faeries are born from plants and retain some of those characteristics. Throughout the series, I found Laurel to be a strong character and truly enjoy reading her adventures. This is the third book in this series, and the cliffhanger ending left me desperate for the next and final book in the saga. Laurel's life is seemingly perfect, but when Tamani comes back into the picture things become complicated. David is having a hard time dealing with his jealousy when it comes to Tamani, and likewise Tamani can't stand the thought of Laurel with David. Tension runs rampant throughout the pages, until Laurel breaks after becoming torn between her feelings for them both. A new student, Yuki, at the school becomes their focus when Laurel is asked to keep an eye on her from someone they thought they had seen the last of. Unsure if she can be trusted, Tamani uses his charm to win her over and they discover that there is much more going on than meets the eye. Yuki is simply a distraction from a bigger threat from an almost unbelievable source, but what they don't know is if she is a willing distraction, or a pawn in a dangerous scheme to destroy Avalon.
