Meet Us At The Crossroads Tour Day 3: Karen Kincy

1. What inspired you to write Gwen’s character?

She’s the kind of character I dream about being—and I mean literally dream, since I often fall asleep into shapeshifting fantasies. In dreams, like novels, you have powers beyond anything in the waking world, and can be as daring as you like. But since Gwen isn’t quite a “badass super ninja pooka,” as Tavian says, sometimes her daring veers into reckless territory, and she has to extract herself from trouble.

2. What was the first book you read that made you fall in love with reading (past or present writer)?

Probably some dog-eared old picture book I had when I was a baby. I’ve loved reading forever. The first book was probably a Dr. Seuss or Berenstain Bears book. I still have a soft spot for picture books, and sometimes browse them in bookstores.

3. What paranormal author are you currently addicted to?

Many! I will say that I’m itching to know what happens in Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl’s third book, having just read the ARC of Beautiful Darkness

4. What band or artist currently tops your play list?

At this very moment, Modest Mouse. Slightly prior to that, the new albums of Franz Ferdinand and One Republic.

5. Do you have any projects you are currently working on that you are able to share? And can you give us a little teaser?

I’m working on Foxfire (2012), the third book in the Other series, as well as a Super Secret Project that’s a historical paranormal involving food and magic gone wrong. My lips are sealed on the Super Secret Project, but I will tell you that Foxfire involves a certain fox-spirit and a trip to Japan, where all sorts of Others are encountered...

HOW THE TOUR WORKS:

Each day of The Crossroads Tour, a new research question will be revealed on The Crossroad Blog Tour main page, and each day the answer to that question will be found within one of the 16 different blog posts by Crossroads Tour authors. Your job is to get the question, read the blog posts, and collect all 16 answers by the end of the tour, on Halloween.

  1. I can't wait to read this one either. But I'm going to have to look up what a pooka is because I thought they were really bad and she looks perfectly nice to me. Like someone I'd want to be friends with! Off to my Creature of the Lore book!
